New Jersey Maritime Museum: Located in Beach Haven on the southern end of Long Beach Island, the New Jersey Maritime Museum is just under 100 miles from Newark. Exhibiting the most extensive collection of maritime history and artefacts in the entire state of New Jersey, the museum’s research library consists of hundreds of rare photographs and out-of-print books with shipwreck files. There are also pre-historic fossils recovered from the inter-continental shelf off the New Jersey coast.
The Museum of Modern Art: With extraordinary exhibitions and the world’s finest permanent collection of modern and contemporary art, the Museum of Modern Art in midtown Manhattan is around an hour’s drive from Newark. Founded in 1929 as an educational institution, MoMA is dedicated to being the world’s foremost contemporary gallery.
