Why rent a car in Glasgow with

Search next time you’re looking for cheap car hire in Glasgow city centre. You will find a wide range of vehicles (including prestige cars which are great for weddings and formal occasions) from all the well-known rental companies. Not only do we help you compare prices, we deal with suppliers directly to secure exclusive prices you won’t find anywhere else. We also explain exactly what’s included in your rental upfront, meaning no nasty surprises when you arrive at the pick-up counter. You can even filter the search results to quickly find the car best-suited to your needs and preferences.

Top Tips

  • There is a large one-way system in Glasgow city centre, so if you’re unfamiliar with the area you might want to request a GPS (or bring your own if you want to keep costs down).
  • There are plenty of multi-storey and ‘pay and display’ car parks in Glasgow. Rates per hour vary depending on the location, but cheaper parking is generally found on the outskirts of the city.
  • Book your hire car well in advance, as popular cars tend to sell out quickly.

Which companies offer best value in Glasgow?

To help you decide who to rent with, we ask each customer to rate the supplier who provided their car in seven key areas: such as the condition of the car, the efficiency of the counter staff and the speed of pick-up and drop-off. You can see the ratings and read the reviews next to each car listing — so you get honest, impartial advice before you commit to a booking.

If you want to avoid hidden fuel costs, why not book a car with a full-to-full fuel policy? As long as you refill the tank just before the end of the rental, you won’t pay any extra fuel fees. Plenty of suppliers offer cars with this policy in Glasgow.

Day trips from Glasgow

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park: Less than an hour from Glasgow, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is brimming with natural beauty. You can take a waterbus ride across the loch (the largest body of freshwater on the UK mainland), or take part in one of the water sports on offer (such as sailing, canoeing or water skiing). Land-based activities include horse riding, cycling and climbing — or you can simply enjoy a leisurely stroll and admire the spectacular scenery.

Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park: Also less than an hour from Glasgow is the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park — the largest regional park in Scotland. Appreciate the beautiful scenery as you take on one of the walking routes through the park (which take between 20 minutes and 1.5 hours to complete), or enjoy a scenic bike ride instead. When you’re ready for a bite to eat, visit one of the cafés — or bring a picnic to eat in one of the designated picnic areas. The park is also home to the Hen Harrier, one of the UK’s rarest birds. Bring your binoculars and see if you can spot one for yourself!

Edinburgh: Since it’s just over an hour’s drive from Glasgow, why not pay a visit to Scotland’s capital? Visit Edinburgh’s famous castle (overlooking the city from its hilltop position on Castle Rock), then take a walk up the Royal Mile — the main thoroughfare in the old part of the city. If you’re visiting with children or teenagers, be sure to check out Camera Obscura and the World of Illusions (just outside the castle). With plenty of hands-on exhibits and interactive displays, you can work your way around six floors of optical illusions.
