Why book car hire in London with Rentalcars.com?

We want you to have a stress-free rental experience, so we make it easy to hire a car in London —by providing simple search tools, customer reviews and plenty of pick-up locations across the city (from Victoria Station to Kings Cross). In a matter of seconds, we compare prices from all the major companies. Not only that, but the handy filters let you narrow down the results based on your needs and preferences, so you can quickly find the right car for you.

Whether you’re looking for a nifty vehicle for city driving or a luxury car for a business meeting or wedding, you will be spoiled for choice at Rentalcars.com. Don’t forget: many of the great prices you see on our site are exclusive to us, so you know you’re getting a great car at the best price.

Top Tips

  • Remember that certain areas of London are subject to the Congestion Charge, meaning you pay £11.50 per day if you drive in the Congestion Charge Zone between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • If you don’t need much space for passengers or luggage, consider a mini or compact car; these small vehicles are easy to drive and park, making them great for city driving.
  • Book your hire car well in advance, as popular cars tend to sell out quickly.

Which car hire companies offer the best value in London?

To help you decide who to rent with, you can see the ratings and reviews left by our customers next to each car listing. We ask them to rate their rental experience in seven key areas (such as the condition of the vehicle and the efficiency of the counter staff), and we are pleased to say that the majority of the companies we deal with across London have been rated as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’. If you want to avoid hidden fuel costs, book a car with a full-to-full fuel policy: as long as you refill the tank before dropping the car off, you won’t have to pay any extra fuel fees.

Day trips from London

The Cotswolds: A two-hour drive from Central London, the Cotswolds offer peace and tranquillity away from the bustling capital — so why not get up early and enjoy some quiet time in the countryside? With idyllic, hilly landscapes and picturesque villages with honey-coloured buildings, the area is brimming with natural beauty. If you really want to make the most of the stunning surroundings, consider booking into a hotel for the night.

Brighton: Also two hours from London is the seaside resort of Brighton, on England’s south coast. The vibrant town has plenty of shops and restaurants, as well as the famous pebble beach with its traditional pier. On the pier, you will find two amusement arcades and a funfair with rides to suit all ages. Some other great attractions in Brighton include the Royal Pavilion, the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery and ‘The Lanes’ shopping area — a maze of narrow alleyways lined with boutiques and independent shops.

Thorpe Park: Take a drive to one of the UK’s biggest theme parks and enjoy the wide range of rides and attractions at Thorpe Park. Just an hour’s drive from London, Thorpe Park has a number of thrill rides to get your adrenaline pumping — including Stealth, which shoots you more than 200ft high, and accelerates from 0-80mph in less than two seconds! If you want something a little less intense, there are plenty of family rides which offer a gentler pace.
