As the world’s biggest online car rental service, we give you all the information you need to compare car hire from companies all over the UK, as well as more than 160 other countries worldwide. All you have to do is tell us where you are going, and we will find you the cheapest car hire deals available.
Plus, we give you information not just about price, but other aspects of the rental too, like fuel policies, ratings, location, etc.
Yes you can, but many car hire companies will require you to pay what is known as a Young Driver Fee. That said, companies classify young drivers in different ways – some will charge the fee if you are under 25, while others will only charge if you are between 18 and 21. Whether or not you are charged a fee also depends on the class of car and engine size.
On Rentalcars.com you can easily check which companies charge this fee – some don’t even charge a fee at all.
Because going from the UK to mainland Europe, for example to France or Spain, involves travelling over the sea (or under the sea, if using the Eurotunnel), very few car hire companies will allow you to make this kind of trip. We would advise you to drop your hire car off in the UK, get to Calais by other means, and then hire another car.
A hire car’s basic cover will almost always have an excess – but we can help you find a car with a low excess.
Every car on our site has a terms and conditions link: just click ‘Ts&Cs’ and you’ll find the car’s excess in the ‘Deposits, Excess and Cover’ section.
If you want to protect that excess, you can buy additional cover from the counter staff at pick-up (which might mean you don’t have to leave a deposit for the car) or from us, anytime before your rental starts (which is usually a lot cheaper than the over-the-counter cover).
