Lodz: Poland’s third-largest city can be reached in approximately one hour and 40 minutes by car. Like Warsaw, Lodz boasts a wealth of grandiose architecture — with some dating back to the 14th century. In addition to the magnificent palaces, chapels and cathedral found here, the city has a varied choice of museums, galleries and parks to explore, together with excellent shops, bars and restaurants.
Chopin’s Birthplace: For classical music fans, a trip to the birthplace of Poland’s greatest composer, Fryderyk Chopin, is a must. Situated in Żelazowa Wola, which is under an hour’s drive from Warsaw, the house where the celebrated pianist was born and spent his early childhood now features a museum to commemorate his birthplace. The interior of this modest 19th-century manor has been beautifully recreated to capture the atmosphere of Chopin’s family home.
Zegrzyński Lake: Situated approximately 45 minutes from the busy streets of Warsaw, Zegrzyński Lake offers a change of pace. This idyllic location is primarily a place of rest and recreation where the people of Warsaw love to spend their weekends. The artificial lake has three wonderful beaches to choose from, not to mention a wide range of activities including sailing, windsurfing and kite-surfing.
