Nissaki Beach: One of the most beautiful of all the island’s beaches, Nissaki is located approximately 22 kilometres north of Corfu Town. The charming little bay’s sandy shoreline is sheltered from strong winds, making it ideal for families with young children — and the turquoise water is crystal clear. The small fishing port next to Nissaki adds to the charm of this picturesque location, together with the surrounding tavernas which serve fresh seafood and local delicacies.
Angelokastro – Castle Michel Angelo: Towering high above the north-west coastline is one of the most important fortified complexes of Byzantine Corfu. Situated near Palaiokastritsa, approximately 20 kilometres from Corfu Town, Angelokastro formed an acropolis and presented a formidable strategic vantage point. The fortress played a vital role during the Great Siege of 1571 when the Turkish attack on the north-western flank of the island was successfully repelled by the defenders of the castle.
Old Perithia: Situated approximately 50 kilometres from Corfu Town, the ancient village of Old Perithia is a place that has been suspended in time. As the oldest example of Corfu’s original mountain villages, Old Perithia is ‘Heritage Protected’ and stands in a ‘Designated Area of Natural Beauty’. Although records date back to the mid-14th century, the ancient village is thought to have been inhabited for many centuries before that time. The 130 houses here were built entirely by hand.
