Top Tips

  • Although it’s likely your trip to Cape Town will be trouble-free, it’s recommended that you keep car doors locked while driving.
  • If you’re unfamiliar with the area, why not request a GPS when you book your hire car? You will pay for the GPS at the pick-up counter in Cape Town.
  • The summer season in Cape Town is November - February, so make sure your hire car has air conditioning if you’re visiting during these months.

Which companies offer best value in Cape Town?

We want you to make an informed choice when you’re deciding who to rent with, that’s why we ask each customer to rate and review the company who supplied their car. We are happy to say most of the suppliers in Cape Town are rated as ‘excellent’; so you can rest assured you’re hiring with a trusted company.

Day trips from Cape Town

Stellenbosch: 50km east of Cape Town, Stellenbosch is famous for its vineyards — but if you’re driving, there are plenty of alcohol-free attractions for you to enjoy. The second-oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch is rich in history and culture; with numerous museums and galleries, as well as architecture influenced by the Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian eras. The town is also a haven for foodies, with more than 80 restaurants offering fine dining experiences.

Kogelberg Nature Reserve: A two-hour drive from Cape Town, the Kogelberg Nature Reserve is an unspoiled, protected area brimming with natural beauty. The reserve is dedicated to conservation and biodiversity, but there are plenty of activities for you to enjoy while you’re there — such as canoeing, cycling, whale watching and bird watching.

Fish Hoek Beach: Although now part of Cape Town, Fish Hoek Beach is an hour’s drive from the city centre. The seaside town features a wide, white sand beach, and some of the safest waters in the area — making it a great choice if you have young children who want to paddle in the sea. From July-November, the bay is a prime location for whale watching.
