Why rent a car in Salzburg with

At, we make it easy to rent a car in Salzburg. Use the simple search form to tell us when you need a car, and then let us do the hard work: we compare prices across a wide range of cars, from brands like Europcar, Enterprise and Buchbinder. You can then filter the results to find exactly what you are looking for. Many of the prices on our site are exclusive to us, so you won’t find the same great deals anywhere else. However, if you do find the same car from the same supplier cheaper elsewhere, we promise to beat the price.

Top Tips

  • In winter, having winter tyres or snow chains is mandatory from the beginning of November to Mid-April.
  • Toll stickers are required on all cars. These can be purchased from petrol stations and post offices. Rental cars picked up in Austria often already have one.
  • Parking in Salzburg’s city centre is limited. Instead, use the ‘Park and Ride’. Follow signs stating ‘P+R’.

Which companies offer best value in Salzburg?

If you are visiting Salzburg in the winter, look out for cars which include the winterisation fee (the cost of equipping the car for harsh conditions) in the rental price. You will see which cars offers like this apply to once you search for a car on our site. Because we are completely impartial, we also show ratings and reviews from previous customers next to each listing — giving you honest advice about each company’s reputation before you commit to a booking.

Day trips from Salzburg

Obertauern: Want to hit the slopes while you’re in Salzburg? Then jump in the car and make your way to Obertauern. Just over 100km from the city, this ski resort was once frequented by the Beatles. The ski area has modern lifts and runs that will suit all abilities. There is also plenty of opportunity to go off-piste. In summer there are some great hiking and biking trails.

Salzkammergut: Known as the ‘Lake District of Austria’, the Salzkammergut area is a popular destination — especially in summer. Don’t miss Fuschl am See, a photogenic village next to Lake Fuschlsee which is a good base for hiking and visiting St. Gilgen (home to a famous cog railway, Baroque architecture and a Christmas market).

Hohenwerfen Fortress: Situated 45 minutes from Salzburg by car, the Hohenwerfen Fortress has towered over the Salzachtal Valley for over 900 years. You can discover the history of this castle by taking a tour that will include the chapel, kitchens, the armoury and the bell tower. Hohenwerfen is open all year round, and features regular events such as falconry displays and seasonal markets.
