Why rent a car in Amsterdam with Rentalcars.com?

Search Rentalcars.com next time you’re looking to rent a car in Amsterdam. We deal with car hire companies directly, so we can offer you exclusive deals and the cheapest prices. You will find a wide range of cars on our site (including convertibles, people carriers and prestige cars) from well-known brands such as Budget, Avis and Europcar. We provide you with everything you need to make an informed choice — such as handy filters, customer reviews and all the information about each car upfront. We make it easy to compare prices and find your ideal hire car.

Top Tips

  • Take time to familiarise yourself with the rules of the road in Amsterdam. The city centre has narrow roads, a high volume of traffic, tram lines and lots of cyclists, so be careful when you’re behind the wheel.
  • Amsterdam has a number of ‘park and ride’ facilities on the outskirts of the city, which often work out much cheaper (and less stressful!) than parking in the centre.
  • Book your hire car well in advance, as popular cars tend to sell out quickly.

Which companies offer best value in Amsterdam?

When you search on our site, you will see some cars come with a special offer — so you could get a free additional driver or a GPS at no extra cost. Suppliers who often have offers like this include Dollar and Enterprise. However, you also want to be sure the company has a good reputation; that’s why we ask each customer to rate and review the company who supplied their car. You can see their feedback next to each listing. We are pleased to say the majority of the companies we deal with in Amsterdam have been rated as ‘excellent’.

Day trips from Amsterdam

The Hague: Rich in history and culture, The Hague is just an hour’s drive from Amsterdam. It’s also a great place to visit if you want to experience a Dutch seaside resort — the district of Scheveningen (one of the eight districts of The Hague) is home to a traditional pier, a long sandy beach and an attractive promenade lined with shops and eateries. The Hague has plenty to attract visitors young and old, so it’s a great day out for the whole family.

Zaanse Schans: Just a 30-minute drive from Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans is one of the Netherlands’ ‘must-see’ places. Offering a taste of traditional Dutch life, the neighbourhood is home to beautiful windmills and historic, wooden houses. The community dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries, and you can still see old-fashioned Dutch crafts such as clog-making. Once you’ve explored the fascinating buildings, why not take a relaxing boat trip along the River Zaan?

Kukenhof Gardens: Depending on what time of year you visit Amsterdam, a drive to Kukenhof Gardens should be high on your agenda (the gardens are open from the end of March to the middle of May). Kukenhof is one of the most spectacular spring gardens in the world, with over 32 hectares filled with vibrant tulips, daffodils, bluebells and hyacinths. Stroll around the winding paths, letting the colours and smells captivate your senses. Special exhibits are often held around the site, so there will be plenty of things to see.
