Bordeaux Airport (BOD)

Address:
33700 Mérignac, France

Aside from serving the beautiful city of Bordeaux itself, Bordeaux Airport is also a gateway into the picturesque Dordogne region. The airport is the starting-point of many car rentals, with lots of visitors hiring a car to discover one of France’s most famous wine-producing areas at their own pace.

Bordeaux Airport consists of three passenger terminals, including one that is dedicated to low-cost airlines like easyJet and Ryanair. Five million passengers from the UK, Europe and Northern Africa pass through the airport every year — and we help many of them find cheap car hire deals across a range of car groups.

Finding a great deal

To bring you exclusive deals, we compare all the major car hire companies (including Europcar, Hertz, Avis, Sixt and Budget, who have their counters at the terminal itself). We hope to make the process of hiring a car as straightforward as possible, from booking to getting behind the wheel.

Finding a great deal is easy, but knowing which companies provide the best value for money is often more difficult — that is why we ask each customer to rate and review their rental experience, so you get impartial, honest opinions before you decide who to rent with. You can see their feedback by each car when you search on our site.

You might also be worrying about hidden costs, so we offer cars with different fuel policies. If you choose a car with a full-to-full policy (there are plenty of cars with this policy at Bordeaux Airport), you will avoid hidden fuel charges. Simply refill the tank just before your rental is over and you won’t pay any extra fees when you drop the car off.

Book your car hire with us to get the right car, at a great price, from a company you can trust.

Choice of cars

Whether you are travelling alone, as a couple, with your family or as part of a large group, you can easily find the perfect hire car for your needs. To quickly find the right car for you, use the filters on the left-hand side of the page to narrow down the search results based on size, fuel policy, specifications, supplier, rating and pick-up location.

Cars at Bordeaux Airport range from mini and economy cars (small and easy to park), to SUVs, luxury vehicles and people carriers. If you don’t want to drive a manual car, there are plenty of cars with automatic transmission too.

Tips and advice

  • 1
Bordeaux Airport provides direct access to the city’s ring road — the junctions for the airport are 11A and 11B. The ring road can get busy from 8am-10am and 4pm-7pm.
  • 2
Driving from the airport to the city centre takes about half an hour, depending on traffic.
  • 3
You can reach the Dordogne in about 90 minutes, along the A89.
  • 4
The airport is in the town of Mérignac, around 10km (6 miles) west of Bordeaux.
  • 5
Book your car hire as far in advance as possible. The longer you leave it, the more likely the prices are to rise.
  • 6
If you are visiting in the summer, ensure your hire car has air conditioning to keep you cool and comfortable.
