Yes. If you need to drive from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland, for example from Cork to Coleraine, a one-way rental is possible. Be aware that for this kind of trip you will need to pay what is known as a One Way Fee, also known as a drop charge.
When you search for a one-way rental on Rentalcars.com, we let you know (before you book) if the car hire company would charge a One Way Fee. And because we partner with so many car hire companies in Ireland, you can easily compare them all to find the ones with the smallest fees, or even no One Way Fee at all.
We work with the all the top car hire companies in Ireland, which means we are able to offer you great savings across a wide variety of cars. Whether you are going to Shannon or Cork, we can find the right car hire for you.
We also give you everything you need to make an informed decision, so you can base your choice not just on prices, but also fuel policies, ratings, pick-up locations and more.
This depends on the individual car hire company, as well as your country of origin. In most cases, UK customers will be allowed to rent a car in Ireland using a debit card instead of a credit card. The car hire company will take a deposit from the card. Assuming the car is not damaged, the deposit will be refunded once the rental is completed.
If you are not a resident of the UK, most companies will require you have a credit card. Please check the specific car hire company’s terms and conditions for more information.
Our site gives you all the information you need to make the right choice – details about each car’s price, fuel policy, pick-up instructions and more.
If you want to know what it’s really like when you hire a car from one of the companies we work with in Ireland, why not read some of the feedback our customers have sent us?
Just fill in the search form at the top of this page and hit ‘Search’. On the next screen (Search Results), you’ll see all the available cars. Underneath most of them, you’ll see:
- A mark out of 10
- What that rating means (good, superb, etc.)
- The number of reviews we’ve had so far, for that company at that location.
Click on any of these three things and you’ll see a breakdown of the rating, a couple of sample reviews – and a link to more reviews.
Take a look. They should help you choose the right car – from the right company.
