Why rent a car in Lisbon with Rentalcars.com?

Whether you want to rent a sporty convertible, a luxury car or a 7-seater people carrier, we are here to make hiring a car in Lisbon cheap and hassle-free. In one simple search, we compare prices on a wide range of cars, from a number of national and international car hire brands (like Guerin, Hertz, Budget and Avis) — while the handy filters let you narrow down the results based on what you’re looking for. Don’t forget: many of the deals on our site are exclusive to us, so we often have the cheapest car hire prices in Lisbon.

Top Tips

  • Since Lisbon is hilly with lots of narrow, winding streets, on-street parking spaces are few and far between. However, there are numerous underground multi-storey car parks across the city.
  • Lisbon can get very congested, so allow plenty of time for your journey.
  • Make sure your hire car has air conditioning, particularly if you’re visiting in the hot summer months.

Which companies offer best value in Lisbon?

Companies like Orbita, Hertz, Guerin and Drive on Holidays usually have special offers on their cars in Lisbon, such as a free additional driver, a guaranteed make and model or the Collision Damage Waiver with no excess included in the rental price. However, we understand how important it is to be satisfied with your overall rental experience — that’s why we show customer ratings and reviews next to each car. You can find out exactly what others think of each car hire company, and see which suppliers people trust and recommend the most. After all, we think being impartial is the best way to be.

Day trips from Lisbon

Sesimbra: The picturesque fishing town of Sesimbra is just a 45-minute drive from Lisbon — so escape the city and spend time relaxing on one of the beautiful beaches. Sesimbra is set at the foothills of the Serra da Arrábida mountain range, making it a great area for hiking and cycling. The town itself exudes traditional Portuguese charm and character, with plenty of shops and restaurants for you to explore.

Sintra: Just half an hour from Lisbon, Sintra is a magical place to visit. With thick forests, majestic hills and colourful palaces and mansions, the area could easily be mistaken as a fairy tale setting. Sintra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to pastel-hued buildings and many 19th-century Romantic architectural monuments.

Cascais: An attractive coastal town 30km west of Lisbon, Cascais is well worth visiting. Featuring three sandy beaches, Cascais has a pedestrianised ‘old town’ where you will find plenty of shops and restaurants (mainly serving fresh fish and seafood dishes). The town is also home to a marina and several small museums.
